Hyperbackup: processing data and calculating size is taking days?

Hi there! I ran my first hyperbackup from a DS923+ to my old DS918+ and the hyperbackup completed its first successful backup after about 4 days (there’s just shy of 12TB of data I’m backing up).

I’ve followed the hyperbackup schedule suggestions shared by Will on the YouTube channel (backup daily at 3 am), but now it seems that hyperbackup is just constantly processing data and calculating the size… and hasn’t completed a successful backup since. (It’s been a couple days since the first successful backup.)

For what it’s worth, I have time machine backing up my Mac to my NAS. Should I remove the time machine shared folder backup from the hyperbackup? Could that be the culprit?

Is this processing of data and slowness normal with hyperbackup? If not, what might I need to adjust so it’ll work as it should?

You can do two things to optimize your backup with Hyper Backup.

One tip is to split the backup into multiple tasks. Each task comes with an amount of overhead (checks and so on). Split the backup into a few tasks, with static data backed up less frequently and so on.

The second tip, is to use a single-version backup version type for the Time Machine data. You might not be familiar with this. It is one of the magic tricks you can do with Hyper Backup. Suggested reading (look for the section on ‘Backup Version Type’:
