Last January, Synology introduced ActiveProtect, a backup appliance with three models: one rack-mount and two desktops.

I currently have one for testing. I find it an interesting development, but I know it is (currently) aimed at larger corporations and enterprises.

I have not seen any comment on ActiveProtect in any Synology forum I visit frequently. I am curious how any user here is aware of its existence.

Synology’s been touting it pretty frequently in their newsletter. NAS Compares also did a bit on it.
