Over the years, now have 15 users on my synology. Only two accounts are ever used. Most of the accounts are disable. How can I be safe that if I delete the account no data is loss.
I have looked in the Home folder of most accounts and see nothing.
Deleting a user account does not delete files or folders. Even the home folder is not affected.
The only thing that’s lost are user specific settings in DSM.
In case there is data that the user created, you can assign access permissions for that data to a user of your choice. I am not sure this process is part of the deletion process or that you should do it beforehand.
The home folder is specific to a user’s account. If the home folder for each account you are looking to delete is empty there’s nothing that could be lost.
