I am having trouble using recovery media creater. It fails to write to a usb drive, says it can’t format the drive. I’ve tried several usb drives and on different computers.
Windows, Mac, or Linux? What is the capacity of the USB drive?
I assume you attempt to format the USB drive from the Recovery Media Creator. Can you format the USB drive from the standard tool in your operating system?
Windows usb drive is 16gb. I can format the drive from Windows with no problem, but when Media creator tries it fails.
I finally was able to create recovery media. I deleted the partition on the usb drive, and left it unallocated with no partition. The instructions on the Synology web site said to create a partition and format it.

I just realised that When I used version 2.7.1 of the media creator it failed. I used version2.7.0 to successfully create recovery drive. I don’t if there is a bug in 2.7.1 or what.
