I use Synology NAS for personal use. I do not have multiple NAS. I back up my NAS using portable hard disks. I received an email today that Synology is moving to paid subscription model for Active Insight. What happens if I do not subscribe and let my current free subscription expire? What are the negatives in doing so? What do I gain by paying $29.99 monthly subscription? Thanks for your advice.

We’ve been using it for several years. If you have only one NAS, it’s not worth it. Actually, with only one it creates extra work reviewing notices, emails, etc., that you would (or should) normally get without the service, and they come much slower. Save your money.
