Anyone tried the newly launched Synology 'Plus' series of HDD HAT3300

Anyone tried the new ‘Seagate-made’ Synology Plus series HAT3300 HDD’s and comments/review appreciated!

Have not tried them yet!

Did get the MSRP from Synology yesterday

The Synology Plus Series SATA HDDs are $89.99, $149.99, $189.99, and $249.99 for the 4TB, 6TB, 8TB, and 12TB capacities respectively

Overall it may be nice to at least have additional options for HDDs for the high level units, but they are selling a 12TB drive for the price of a 16TB drive and they dont even sell a 16TB drive. Seems like they purposefully limited these as people buying 12bay units are buying the largest drives they can

Many thanks for your reply, Will & Katie. Thanks for your input. I recon that since the new Synology ‘plus’ series HDD’s are made by Seagate aka IronWolf, they should be price competitive. i.e. only advantage I can see is that the synology drives come with installed/easy firmware updates while operating. :+1:

Curious to hear feedback on reliability (and noise) of the 12TB (7200 rpm helium-filled) and 8TB (5400rpm air) models.

Prices on German Amazon place them relatively close to Seagate IronWolf drives of the comparable size, but the IronWolfs are tried and tested (while the HAT3300 come with firmware, and no compatibility “questions”/worries).
