I’m happy to see that Synology added an option to dismount and lock volume (and folder) encryption keys on manual system reset. This should’ve been default behaviour, but at least now it’s optional.
Next should be to give users the option to NOT store volume encryption keys locally. Give a warning, sure, but let the user decide. QNAP has it, and Synology also has this on folders. Give us the same option for volumes.
So, I tried to understand what the changes to volume encryption from 7.2 to 7.3 was, but I’m having a hard time understanding the realities. Can someone who understands this better try to explain them?
