How can I set up synology photos on my wife’s phone, allowing her to upload photos on her mobile phone to our NAS. She is a non admin user.
If:
- your wife has her own user account on the NAS
- you enabled the User Home service, meaning that every account on the NAS has a private home folder
- you installed Synology Photos on the NAS
- you installed Synology Photos Mobile on the phone
Then, you only have to enable photo backup in the mobile app on the phone. This option will upload photos from the phone to the NAS and optionally remove them from their original location.
Yes it does work when we are locally connected to the NAS. what if she is not at home like on a vacation and she wants to simply let the images get backed up to the NAS. it tried using quickconnect but it doesn’t work for her. But it does work for me, when i use my login credentials.
You could check the configuration in the Photos Mobile app on your wife’s phone. In particular I would check the servername setting and compare it with your settings on your phone. I suspect that the app does not use the proper QuickConnect setting.
Is your account perhaps an administrator account and your wife’s account is not. I do not yet see how that would affect this but it is something to explore.
