I currently have Hyper Backup configured to backup a few shared folders from my work NAS to my home NAS every night over a VPN. It works flawlessly. However, I do have one encrypted folder that I have been unable to backup this way. The process completes with errors each time and nothing ever gets backed up. Is there a way to backup an unmounted encrypted folder to a remote Synology NAS without mounting it?
So I think the only way that you can backup an unmounted encrypted folder would be to use hyperbackup full system backup or possibly snapshot replication to another Synology NAS.
Everything else is actually backing up the files, not the underlying data, which would not backup an unmounted encrypted folder
