Hello to the community,
I am currently seeking advice on how to move files from an old Synology 214+ that has a 2x4TB mirrored ext4 to a new Synology 225+ that has a 2x6TB mirrored btrfs.
I have also available an external usb drive that is used to hyper backup the most valuable things (not all) of the old nas.
My main goal is:
a)migrate the data from the old to new one, and use the new as primary
b)move the old nas to a different site (building), on the same network and act as an failover-ready-to-use backup
c)ransomware protection
I’ve read about snapshot replication with 2 options like failover or switchover but is it mandatory for the both NAS to have btrfs filesystem? 214+ does not support btrfs.
The actual data is ~1.9TB .
Whats the best way to achive all that without moving data back and forth (with least downtime)?
