How to restore a dead DS918+ to a DS923+?

Hi everyone, one of my friends had a brown out at his office and his DS918+ smoked big time.

Right now, I have at my house his hyperbackup backup and his .dss file.

Can I do that in this order :

  1. Install DSM with some new drives(bigger drives) with a DS923+

  2. Restore his .dss file on that new unit and reboot

  3. Restore his hyberbackup

Is that possible or I missed something ?

I’d just try putting the drives into the new NAS first.
