Hyperbackup preventing shutdown from UPS in power outage

Hyperbackups prevent shutdown when a power outage happens and the UPS tells the NAS to shutdown gracefully. It just sits there. Any one had this issue? Possibly the fix would be to use something other than hyperbackup

Maybe you can share more details here. Please be aware that a UPS with data cable to the NAS does not shutdown the NAS. It brings the NAS, after a time period since the power outage, into Standby Mode and the NAS keep running in that mode until the battery is depleted.

In Standby Mode any application, including Hyper Backup, should stop.

You can look into the General log if the Standby Mode is enabled, some time after the UPS runs into battery mode.

Also… the UPS needs to be a specifically approved model for that NAS in order for the communication to work.

A NAS shutdown while the drives are being written to is a recipe for disaster. It can corrupt your drives and make the NAS unbootable. That’s why it’s not shutting down. As long as the NAS is not being written to a power loss will have the least impact.

I have a big CyberPower UPS and you can configure events that send a “shut down” signal to the NAS it’s connected to. That NAS can also act as a UPS server that contacts other Synology NAS to also shut down.
