Image Assistant missing in latest version of Synology Photos iOS app – cannot see HEIC photos

I have a question…

At around 6:00 in the video I can see that settings are opened and at the top image assistant is visible.

Image assistant is not visible when I open the latest version of Synology Photos on iOS. On the Synology NAS the latest DSM (7.2.1) is installed. What can I do to enable image assistant on the latest version (2.1.0-472) of Synology Photos?

(I’ve just bought a brand new Synology and I never used a Synology before. I am happy that there are video’s available that will help to setup Synology. Thanks for creating all your video’s, SpaceRex. I used those to setup my Synology NAS. )

It is my understanding that you do not need Image Assistant on iOS since HEIC support is built-in in iOS.

Thanks for your reply Paul.

Thumbnails of HEIC-photos are not available for HEIC-photos that are stored on the NAS. Only thumbnails of newly created HEIC-photos are available. Photos that are made before I installed Synology Photos for iOS are displayed without thumbnail.

It would help if the option mentioned in the video at 6:00 would be available. Do you know how to enable the option that’s mentioned in the video at 6:00?

I have that problem too. Any quick solution ?
maibe move the photos to ds file and import them in photos again with the option convert to jpeg?

You need to install Synology Photos Version: 1.7.0-0795

But in order to do that, you need to install the latest DSM (7.2.2-72806) first. Otherwise you cannot install the latest Synology Photos.

I also installed Advanced Media Extensions, but don’t know if that made the difference.

I thought that I was on the latest DSM, but I was not… :joy:
