Immich photo delete and Synology Drive

I posted this online elsewhere and haven’t gotten anywhere so figured I’d check here. I have a DS224+ and I recently started running Immich on it for my photos. I have decided to keep Synology Photos as my source to upload my photos from my mobile device and I have immich as just the app that I use to look at my photos. Immich sees my photos with the external library feature. I have read write enabled on my server.

My issue is this, when I delete a photo from Immich (and empty it from the trash on the app), it deletes it from my NAS. I verify this by looking at the DS File folder and going to where the photo was saved and it is completely gone. However, for some reason, when I look at the same folder in my Synology Drive, there the file sits. Now, the thumbnail is gone, and when I click on the photo it won’t show anything, but if I hit download, it downloads that original photo to my PC. I tried to run a re-index, and it does nothing. I turned off versioning on Synology Drive, thinking that was the issue, it does nothing. However if I toggle Versioning on and then back off, it forces a re-index that then removes that deleted photo from synology drive finally.

Does anyone know how I can get this to remove instantly from synology drive when I delete the photo? I don’t really want to have to play this reindex game every time I delete a photo off my immich. I know I can delete it from the NAS itself or through synology photos and then just have immich rescan, but I really appreciate the immich interface and would prefer to be able to do it all from there.

Any help would be appreciated!

Edit: I would even take instruction on how to remove my photos folder from my drive.. synology just puts the entire homes folder on drive instead of letting me choose just the documents folder. That would probably solve my issue too.
