Nas Volume set up options

Rebuilding my NAS Volume and trying to decide the best set up.

COMPONENTS:
Two 26TB HDDs

Two 1TB NVME SSDs

(I also have a 26TB external drive that I will back everything up to and keep offsite).

I have about 14TB of data that will populate the drives. While I expect it to grow, I don’t anticipate that being very fast or large in volume.

USAGE: Photos, Music (will stream via Plex Amp by 1-3 people), Video storage (very limited streaming of archival videos via plex) and some document storage. I may replace Dropbox with Synology drive in the future and may run a low traffic website from the NAS at some point as well.

I’m thinking of creating 1 Volume in SHR 1 composed of the two HDDs.

My questions are:

  1. Do I do a read only 1TB cache ?

  2. do I set up the 2 STB SSDs as a volume and put the music we stream daily on that volume.
