Hi, apologies if this is a basic question but I can’t get a LAN connection. I use Eero routers and plugged the NAS into that, also plugged my MacBook into it. I can get to the NAS with quick connect but it is always a ‘.us2.’ connection - which I think means it is connecting via the internet. I am assuming that is slower?
find.synology.com never works and but the Synology Assistant finds it - I don’t know why one would work and the other not.
Really appreciate any ideas on what I could try doing. It does seem to be working fine - I can add things just that I can’t get LAN working.
When you log in to the DSM desktop via the QuickConnect option, I suggest you open Control Panel > Network and write down the IP address that the NAS is currently using.
Next, log off and enter the IP address. What happens? Does the login screen appear?
When the QuickConnect address contains a country code like ‘.us2.’ it indeed runs through the Synology server on the internet, which is slower. When your workstation and NAS are connected to the same local network, QuickConnect should connect directly. Since this is not happening, there is an issue with your local network, it seems.
The Synology Web Assistant (find.synology.com) and the Synology Assistant app work differently. It is normal that one can find the NAS and the other can not. You can prevent the Web Assistant from finding the NAS (Control Panel setting), but the suspected issue with your local network might also be the cause.
