Recently, Synology updated it’s Active Backup server and client software for Debian to work on the latest version of Mint (v.22) running the latest version of the kernel (v.6.8.0-45). So if you are thinking of installing Mint onto a computer you will be able to use Active Backup for Business to back it up using the most recent OS version and kernel!
You need to make sure you are running the most recent version of ABB server on your NAS (v.2.7.0-23221) and that you download the most recent version of the ABB agent (v. 2.7.0-3221) to your Linux computer. For Mint download the Synology Active Backup for Business Agent-2.7.0-3221-x64-deb.zip file, unzip and read the Read Me.txt file to get the install instruction. To install just open a terminal window in the folder the .zip file was downloaded to. It was a piece of cake to install. Synology has not updated their on-line documentation to reflect these package updates. If you’re sick of being milked for your online activities and want to give Linux a try, now you can back up your latest Linux Mint edition without a worry.
