Am I reading this right? Is HEVC video support back with this latest update in Surveillance Station? This is on a DS3621xs+.
I’m not reading into that any change in policy. Synology has stated
Surveillance Station and DS cam will continue to support H.265 cameras with only minor changes, ensuring nearly the same user experience after updating to Surveillance Station 9.2.1.
This seems to say you can share streams with external devices that support HEVC. It is the external device that manages HVEC.
Most modern smartphones now support hardware decoding, which offers better performance and reduces resource consumption. To ensure smooth live view and playback, we recommend using a mobile device that supports H.265 hardware decoding, or changing the camera’s video format to H.264 if any issues occur.
Did I miss something here?
