Synology Drive Backup Error

Hi, following your previous video about Mac Drive integration and ran across this error. Any suggestions?

So that looks like it probably was one of two things:

  1. The folder you are trying to backup on the Mac mini has been removed or something like that
  2. You deleted or renamed the ‘Backup/Marks-Mac-Mini’ folder from the NAS

Hi Mark,

Thank you for supply the logs.

I see that the backup is unable to access files/folders in the /private/var/protected

Please check the permissions on that folder. It should have read/write access to be able to backup.

I still don’t know how to fix it.

Looks like you are trying to backup a folder that is protected. I would exclude that from your backup

Yes I chose all the files to backup. I wasn’t sure which to leave out and which to chose.

Ah, you are unable to backup every single file as some are protected by MacOS. I would just choose the folders you need, use Active Backup for Business, or Time Machine

Ok, which files should be selected to backup user data etc?

Just backup the users documents folder / maybe their user folder. It is wherever you are storing data.

Synology Drive Backup is not meant to be a full volume backup, but really designed to make sure you have a backup of your files if you need them
