Synology Drive Client -- SSL certificate has been changed

I don’t expect to receive a solution from you on this issue but I thought you might like to make a YouTube video about the situation and what it means. I have been a user of Synology NAS products for around 10 years. They have been very reliable for me. Today, I received an error from the Synology Drive Client on my PC as follows: “SSL certificate has been changed”. My wife’s computer had the same message. I run Windows 11 and my wife runs Windows 10. I Googled the error and found links to the Synology Community Forum where lots of questions have been posted about this error. But there are no explanations for exactly what causes it. This is the first time I have ever received this error. The “fix” is to re-enter the password in Synology Drive Client but, again, there was no explanation as to the cause of the error. Plus, some people complain that it comes back every three months or so. It would be very helpful if you could look into this situation and see if you can find out why this keeps occurring. Thanks for your videos.

This is a common issue. The certificate for the SSL connection has been changed on the NAS and now all Drive clients complain.
From the top of my head, the solution is to reconnect each client again with the NAS.
While we are on it, check in Control Panel > Security > Certificate > Settings which certificate is used. Sometimes I use the self-signed cert from Synology if it has an expiration date far away in the future.

Thank you for your response. It was very helpful. Following your instructions, I now see that a new Synology certificate was installed on 8/15. That must be what triggered Drive Client to disconnect from the NAS. As I stated in my original post, I have been a Synology user for many years and this is the first time I have had this issue. Without knowing exactly what was going on I was concerned that my NAS had been hacked.

Your post has helped to put me at ease.

Thank you.
