Hi there!
I’m using synology photos & already noticed in an earlier thread in this forum that Timeline view is only available in the shared space for users with Full Access. Same seems to be valid for the People & Subjects album.
What I’m trying to achieve is that users in Group A can:
- View & download photos
- Use timeline view
- Use the people album & Subjects album
- but cannot edit/delete any content.
Ideally I would have a shared space with folder A for user group A. Drop all contents I want to share with User group A in this folder. Have them view these photos AND use timeline view & people album. Unfortunately that is currently not possible.
Can you guys help me find a way to work around this; these are some ideas I’ve come up with so far but I’m not sure if this is even possible:
Plausible solutions I came up with:
-
Create a new user where all these photos are in the personal synology photos.
- Find a way to ‘lock’ the photos folder of this new user for editing (is this possible?)
This would allow everyone to log into this user & access photo’s without ability to edit or delete, however, perhaps Synology photos doesn’t work for a user if the folder is locked?
- Find a way to 1 way sync a folder from a locked administrator to that user’s photo library, over writing any changes made every month or so
This would allow everyone to log into this user & access photo’s with the ability to edit & delete however, this isn’t the source & every week or so the original condition gets restored
- Find a way to ‘lock’ the photos folder of this new user for editing (is this possible?)
-
Give everyone full access to the shared space (if I can live with not having separate shared spaces for different user groups)
- Find a way to ‘lock’ the shared folder for all users but the administrator
Would probably be the best solution if this doesn’t compromise synology photos for users without locked folder, as I don’t need to make a new user.
- Find a way to ‘lock’ the shared folder for all users but the administrator
Thanks in advance for any thoughts/inputs from you guys!
