I can map a Synology drive on my iOS device iPhone 14 when away from my local network and wifi but can’t get my MacBook Air M3 to do so. It keeps saying server unavailable or wrong user or password. Im using the iPhone as my hot spot to hook my MacBook for WIFI. I can log into the synology server but just can’t map a drive. Any ideas , Am I missing something?
Is your MacBook running it’s own instance of Tailscale? You don’t say in your post.
You say you can log into the nas, but that might be over quickconnect rather than Tailscale.
The MacBook Air is running its own TailScale
When I say I can connect to the nas it’s through entering the TailScale id of the nas through the web not Quick Connect address. But using the TailScale id in the connect to server always returns sever not available or wrong id or password. Yet I can immediately grab my phone sitting next to the MacBook Air and connect to the nas with the safari web browser or the connect to server.
Ok old age is getting to me. The problem I posted here was self induced because I had neglected to direct the MacBook Air to the Apple TV that is my exit node in my TailScale setup and hadn’t turn on the command to access the Local Network DUH!!
