Upgrade Feedback Need Help

I have DS718+, currently its not powering on. While I’m still looking for an AC adapter locally to check if its faulty. I’m also checking for possible upgrade incase the NAS itself is faulty.

Is DS723+ good upgrade or will I go for DS423+.

I’m using it to store raw photos and files. Basically home use and nothing special.

Btw currently I have 4TBx2 but also recently I got a notification that one of the drive “crashed” before the power issue happened.

If ever I upgrade can I use the working drive for migration?

Also I checked the “crashed” drive and connect it to a PC, its still recognizable. Can I reformat it then install it back.

The DS723+ is fine. But unless you plan to add a DX (and your 2x4 TB drives say “no” to me), or require 10GbE networking, have you considered the DS224+ (the DS423+ would be my second choice of the 3).

Hopefully, you’ll find that the issue is related to your power adaptor.

Yeah hopefully its just the AC adapter so I can upgrade the drive instead of getting a new NAS.

Thank you

I already confirmed that my NAS is already dead. Can I transfer the drive from my DS718+ to the new NAS that I’ll get

Yes, you can transfer the disks from the DS718+ into a DS723+ without issues.

Thank you. I’ll try to recover the files via Ubuntu. Hopefully I get to do it so I can have enough time to save for the upgrade.

I’m still deciding whether to get DS723+ or DS723+ the price difference it not that much.
