Hi, I have a DS923+ with standard RAM and running 1GB ethernet at the moment. I have a small graphic design agency so it’s really only me working on the NAS at present. I’m working on the files directly and it’s mostly Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop.
Thinking of upgrading to 2.5gb ethernet as it’s pretty cheap, upgrading RAM to 20GB. Also looking at SSD caches but bit spooked by the potential issues with read/write so would use a UPS if doing so.
Question is, is this overkill? I open and close lots of files and save all the time and deal with lots of image links etc but nothing too heavy. Do I need read/write or just read and will I notice any difference in doing all this?
I clatter through stuff at pace so any time savings, even small, would help. But appreciate I’m not usually dealing with large video files etc.
Thanks in advance.
