Windows 11 slow indexing Synology network drives on a daily basis

I’m running a DS918+ (DSM7.2) and Windows 11 with DSM shared folders accessed in Windows 11 using Network Drives.

When accessing the folders which contain a large number of photos and videos, Windows takes a considerable amount of time (>10 minutes) to index each folder, after which “normal service is resumed”.

Whilst reasonable for a one off, this occurs everyday, following the PC being turned off and then re-accessing the folder, grinding NAS accessed to a go slow. The shares are indexed in DSM using the Indexing Service.

Is there a way to expedite this indexing process from within the NAS or Windows 11?
